The Wine List at Grill 23 & Bar is comprised of over 1000 selections. Our mission is to offer our guests increased breadth of selections while still offering wines of a value-oriented nature.
Wine Director, Alex DeWinter has designed a list that shines with many classic American reds while also featuring wines of similar characteristic from around the globe. We have increased our Italian selection to 155 on the present list and presently offer 100 Australian wines. Our American list is abounding with verticals of this country’s hard to find labels. Specifically, we are featuring 19 labels produced by Harlan Estate, 9 labels by Araujo and 14 bins of Shafer Hillside Select, with 9 vintages and 3 bottle sizes to choose from. In addition, we also maintain a selection of 75 half bottles and over 100 large format bottles ranging from magnum to 6L. Our mission is to be ahead of the trend and offer the broadest and most diverse selection available.
Integral to the success of our wine program is the education of our one hundred person staff. We hold weekly seminars and tastings, with monthly sessions for our staff that cover a broader range of topics.
Our commitment to education and learning has garnered us several awards: ‘Best Steakhouse’ by The Improper Bostonian and Boston Magazine; Award of Ultimate Distinction by Wine Enthusiast and, most recently Wine Director Alex DeWinter, was named Boston’s Rising Star Sommelier in 2006 StarChefs.com
